Bio Carol is the mother of two adults now in their late twenties and is soon to be come a first time grandparent. She lives with her husband Eric in South London.


Carol qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1968 and gained her midwifery qualification in 1970. Carol's general nursing career culminated in a surgical ward sister's post at a London teaching hospital.


Carol devoted the next phase of her life as a wife and mother but is was a period where she also gained extensive voluntary work with children including twelve years as a brown owl and served twelve years as a school governor.


Carol gained her health visiting diploma in 1990 and has gained a vast amount of experience and knowledge during her employment in this capacity for thepast fourteen years. Carol currently works within a Sure Start programme having previously gained experience as a community development health visitor.


Carol is passionate in promoting children's emotional health and well- being and gained a post-graduate diploma in promoting the mental health of children's in 2000 at St George's Medical School, London.


This led to her developing her interest in positive touch and became a qualified Infant Massage Instructor in 2000 and a Massage in Schools Instructor in the same year. She also has a diploma in Reflexology (ITEC).


Carol has been a very pro-active pioneer of the Massage in Schools programme in the UK. She introduced the programme as a whole school initiative into the first school in England. She has undertaken a MISP research and produced an information video. Carol has also led numerous workshops many within Sure Start programmes and directly trained children and teachers in the Massage in Schools Programme.


Carol has represented MISP at several national conferences in the UK and presented her MISP study at this years international public health conference in Brighton. She has also facilitated many very successful workshops at the DfES anti-bullying conferences around the UK during 2004. Carol has been quoted in many national newspapers - reporting on the success of the programme in Britain and has recently together with the children of a school in South London promoted the programme on Channel 4 - Richard and Judy show.


Carol is also the first chairperson of MISA - England - a position see regards as a privilege and with the committee seeks to lay a firm foundation for the growth of the association.


Carol has been a trainer for the MISP since May 2003 and brings her life time experience into her MISP trainings.
